In the Spring of 2018, I lead a team of faculty and instructional designers as we worked to create a free student course that would introduce them to college and online learning. We set out to create a tool that would complement (not replace) our student orientation. The goal was to create a space where students could practice with the learning management system and encounter content that would help prepare them for college courses.
ELearn is the name of the Vol State course management system. It is a platform where connections are made between students, faculty, and course materials. This is where "online" classes happen. Hybrid and web-enhanced, on-ground courses also utilize eLearn's administrative and interactive capabilities. Because it is online, eLearn allows for "anytime, anywhere" access to learning, including:
Access course materials anytime, anywhere they have internet access
Collaborate online
Engage in course related activities in a single environment
Learn new technology skills
This course is available to an Vol State Student for free, or they can login using a generic account.
